John Wilcock (4 August 1927 – 13 September 2018) was born in Sheffield, England and wrote for tabloid newspapers, such as the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail, before moving to New York. In 1955, he was a co-founder, along with Norman Mailer and others, of The Village Voice. After writing a weekly column for several years, he quit and joined The East Village Eye. A regular at Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory, he published an early book of interviews and became the first publisher of Interview Magazine. A co-founder of the Underground Press Syndicate, John Wilcock also wrote many Arthur Fromer travel guides and several compilations of articles about Wicca and witchcraft.
