Jackie Curtis

Jackie Curtis (1947–1985) was an American performance artist, playwright, and actor whose avant-garde work was influential in shaping the downtown New York art scene in the 1960s and 70s. Known for her eccentric, gender-bending style, Curtis was one of Andy Warhol’s Superstars, appearing in his films “Flesh” and “Women in Revolt.” Her plays, including “Glamour, Glory, and Gold,” and “Heaven Grand in Amber Orbit,” featured emerging talents like Robert De Niro and Patti Smith. Curtis was noted for her chaotic personal life, embodying the counterculture spirit that defined her era.
